Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento, MAPA

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) is a ministry of the Brazilian Federal Government. The jurisdiction of this ministry is the formulation and implementation of policies for agribusiness development, integration of markets, technological, organizational aspects and environmental care for the country's consumers and those abroad. Further, MAPA is responsible for promoting food security, reducing employment inequalities and social inclusion.

One of the most prestigious Brazilian research institutes is subordinated by MAPA: the Brazilian Enterprise for Agricultural Research (Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária, EMPRAPA).

Another research institute linked to the MAPA is the National Institute of Meteorology (Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia, INMET)
