NoPa Matchmaking Event in Belém: Sustainable Management and Protection of Tropical Forest14.06.2011 The NoPa Matchmaking Event in Belem on "Protection and sustainable use of tropical forests" facilitated new cooperation between the almost 90 Brazilian and German participants from the academic, public, private and civil society sector. The participants successfully used the three days event to establish research partnerships between German and Brazilian universities, research institutes and companies in order to develop joint applications for the NoPa call for research proposals as well as for other funding programs beyond the NoPa call. Through the organization of group or individual meetings and round table discussions the NoPa Matchmaking event encouraged a productive dialogue between researchers, research funders, representatives of companies, political decision-makers and representatives from civil society in order to intensify the links between the demand and the supply of research results. NoPa - "New Partnerships - Linking Academic and Technical Cooperation between Brazil and Germany" is a contribution of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to the 2010-2011 Brazil – Germany Year of Science, Technology and Innovation and is being implemented from 2010 to 2013 by CAPES, GIZ and DAAD together with DCTEC/MRE.
