German Federal President Christian Wulff inaugurates the DWIH São Paulo06.05.2011 On May 6th, 2011 the German Federal President Christian Wulff inaugurated the German House of Science and Innovation São Paulo (DWIH) during a Topping Out ceremony.
The representatives of DWIH's consortia partners Weber Porto (President AHK São Paulo) and Dr. Max Huber (President DAAD) welcomed the German Federal President Christian Wulff as well as the invited German and Brazilian guests. They lauded the initiative of the German Houses of Science and Innovation, initiated by the German Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany. The speakers stressed DWIH’s important contribution to the German and Brazilian cooperation IN SCIENCE AND INNOVATION. More details about the Topping Out ceremony can be found in the video:
During his visit at the AHK São Paulo, the Federal President has been interviewed by the Deutsche Welle TV (DW-TV). The interview was held in the studio of the Mercosur Business TV in the German Business Center of the AHK Sao Paulo. The festive DWIH inauguration with scientific program will take part at the end of the 3rd / beginning of the 4th quarter 2011. The growing significance for the German-Brazilian cooperation in R&D can be measured by the multitude of the institutions moving in under the umbrella of the DWIH: Alexander von Humboldt (AvH), CLIB 2021, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), German research Foundation (DFG), Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin), Technische Universität München (TUM), University of Göttingen, University Alliance Metropolis Ruhr (UAMR), German Universities of Applies Sciences (UAS7), Centre of Competence for Soil, Groundwater and Site Revitalisation (UFZ-TASK) and Münster University (WWU).
The AHK São Paulo invited President Wulff's delegation to a festive lunch with invited guests from Brazilian and German industries. During the lunch, President Wulff stressed in his speech, the strategic importance of the German-Brazilian cooperation in industry and research based on shared values of two free and democratic countries.
