The Federal Research Institute for Cultivated Plants, Julius Kuehn Institute (JKI) is a Federal Research Institute and an independent higher federal agency based in Quedlinburg. The JKI Foundation has 1,200 employees, including 300 scientists, in its offices in Quedlinburg, Braunschweig, Berlin and Kleinmachnow with several institutions, as well as at locations in Bernkastel-Kues, Darmstadt, Dresden Pillnitz Dossenheim, Large Lüsewitz, Münster and Siebeldingen.

The JKI Foundation is responsible for crop as a protection target in its entirety. This responsibility includes the fields of plant genetics, crop management, plant nutrition, soil science, plant protection and plant health. Therefore the JKI Foundation is able to develop integral concepts for the entire crop production, plant production and plant cultivation.
